Subscription & Quotas

Kumo uses a self-configurable storage model. You choose a storage amount from a slider, and the monthly transfer allowance is automatically set to 5× your storage.

Free trial

Every new account receives a 30-day free trial with 100 MB storage and 500 MB transfer. No credit card is required to start. The trial begins on first login and cannot be paused or extended.

Once the trial ends the account moves to an EXPIRED state. Storage quota drops to 0 MB — existing saves remain in the cloud but no new uploads or downloads are processed until a subscription is activated.

Pricing

Kumo supports both monthly and annual billing. Annual billing is discounted by 15% versus paying monthly for 12 months. The goal is to charge as little as possible while still covering the real costs of cloud storage, transfer, and infrastructure that keep sync reliable.

Managing your subscription

Open the navigation drawer and tap Subscription to view available plans and your current status.

Subscribing

  1. Use the storage slider to select the amount you need.
  2. Choose monthly or annual billing.
  3. Tap Subscribe and enter your payment details in the Stripe checkout sheet.
  4. On successful payment, Kumo polls for up to 30 seconds for the plan change to propagate, then refreshes the subscription screen.

Upgrading or downgrading

Tap Manage on the subscription screen to open the Stripe billing portal. From there you can switch plans, update payment details, or cancel. You can also move the slider to a different step and tap Subscribe to change plans directly.

Cancellation

When you cancel, your subscription moves to a CANCELLING state until the end of the current billing period. Sync continues normally during that time. After the period ends the account becomes EXPIRED.

Storage quota

The storage limit applies to the total size of all your stored files. Usage is recalculated after every upload or delete, with a 5-minute cache. If an upload would push you over the limit it is skipped and a warning banner appears in the app.

To free up space you can delete remote saves for individual emulators from their configuration screen (Delete remote data). This permanently removes all remotely stored files for that emulator.

Transfer quota

The transfer quota covers the combined bytes uploaded and downloaded each month. The counter resets automatically 30 days after the first transfer in a billing period.

When the transfer quota is reached:

  • Further uploads and downloads are skipped for the rest of the period.
  • A quota warning event is shown in the home screen.
  • Sync is not stopped — the watcher and WebSocket remain active.

The quota does not roll over — unused allowance is lost at the end of the period.

Data export

You can export all your saves as a ZIP archive at any time:

  1. Open the navigation drawer and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Export data.
  3. Kumo requests a presigned download URL from the server. The archive is built on the server and the download starts automatically.

The export includes all files under your user prefix, excluding the export archive itself.

Account deletion

Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • Your Cognito user record
  • All your saved files (all versions and delete markers)
  • Your Stripe customer record (if any)

This action is irreversible. To delete your account, go to Settings → Delete account and confirm.
