Enabling emulators
- Open the navigation drawer and tap Settings.
- Under Emulators, toggle on the emulators you want to sync.
- Return to the home screen — enabled emulators appear in the active list.
Granting folder access
On Android 10 and above, Kumo needs explicit permission to read and write each emulator's save directory. When you open an emulator's configuration screen for the first time, Kumo automatically prompts you to grant access to each required folder.
- Tap an emulator in the active list to open its configuration screen.
- Kumo detects the save paths from the emulator's config files and shows a prompt for each folder it needs access to.
- Tap Grant Access, then in the system folder picker navigate to the correct directory and tap Use this folder.
- Repeat for each folder (saves, states, ROMs if applicable).
TIP
If you skip a folder, Kumo silently ignores that category during sync. You can grant access later by returning to the emulator's configuration screen.
Starting sync
Once at least one emulator is enabled and all required folder permissions have been granted:
- Tap Start Sync in the toolbar on the home screen.
- Kumo runs a full bidirectional sync for all enabled emulators, then continues watching for changes in the background.
- The home screen shows storage usage and a live list of recent file transfers.
Stopping sync
Tap Stop Sync in the toolbar, or swipe away the Kumo notification. Sync resumes automatically the next time you start the service or the network becomes available.
